Trolley of Terror Tour

Birmingham has its share of spooky stories, ghostly apparitions, and haunted hotels. There is no better way to learn about these stories than by experiencing them aboard the historic Birmingham Trolley!

The trolley will be all decked out in fall decor with a hint of spooky fog.  Hear local ghost stories and drive by locations that may (or may not) be haunted.

To be clear, there will be no "terror" on our tour.  It should be called "Trolley of Haunted Tales of Birmingham," but that is too long to put on a logo.

After we depart the main trolley stop in downtown Birmingham, we will travel to creepy locations, each with their own haunted past.

  • Oak Hill Cemetery
  •  The Alabama Theater
  • The Redmont and Tutwiler Hotels
  • Sloss Furnaces and Lakeview
  • The Birmingham Library
  • and more...

You will be entranced by stories of Harry the Hacker, Hank Williams, Sr., May Hawes, General Louis Clark, "Slag" Wormwood, the unseen hotel knocker, and more!

All ages are welcome, but some of the ghost stories may be too intense for young children.

  • The  2024 Trolley of Terror will offer six spooky nights of tours:  Friday, October 11, and then the week of October 14-18.  There will be two tours each evening.

  • The 60-minute tour departs on scheduled evenings at 6 pm and 7:15 pm. Board the trolley at the Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau main offices located in Uptown. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before departure time.

  • Snacks and drinks are welcome on the trolley.

  •  On-street parking is available, and the BJCC Red Deck is adjacent to the trolley stop.

  • Tickets are $20 for adults (10+) and $15 for children (3-9)
